Rascal Films Welcomes Tony Award-Winning Director & Choreographer of Book of Mormon To Roster

Rascal Films, a company known for representing talent with unique storytelling perspectives, has signed preeminent Broadway director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw.  Nicholaw won the 2011 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his work as co-director of The Book of Mormon. With Rascal Films, Nicholaw will apply his singular talent and experience to the commercial realm.

“I love directing buoyant, lively projects that build on quirky and original ideas,” notes Nicholaw. “With commercials it is about being concise with storytelling - no matter the scope of the production – while reflecting each brand in an interesting way.  Working with Rascal, and its extensive advertising experience, feels like a great match and I am excited to be working together.”

In addition to Book of Mormon, Nicholaw’s Broadway credits include Elf: The Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations) and Monty Python's Spamalot, directed by Mike Nichols (2005 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Best Choreography). Additional New York credits: for City Center Encores! – the highly acclaimed productions of Anyone Can Whistle and Follies (direction and choreography), Bye Bye Birdie (choreography) and Can-Can (musical staging); for NY Philharmonic – Candide; South Pacific at Carnegie Hall (also on PBS "Great Performances"), Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way at Radio City Music Hall starring the world-famous Rockettes. He directed and choreographed the world premieres of Minsky's at Center Theatre Group, Robin and the 7 Hoods at the Old Globe and Disney's Aladdin at the 5th Avenue in Seattle. His passion for working with talent is matched with his drive to direct projects that marry musical performance and choreography and comedic timing.

“In addition to being incredibly talented, Casey is truly enthusiastic about commercials and advertising,” says Jim Golden, EP/Co-Founder of Rascal Films.  “For all of his vast and award-winning experience he is authentic and genuine -- we felt an immediate kinship.”

“He is a master storyteller, whether for stage or screen, and we are excited to collaborate with him to create spectacular advertising,” adds Rascal EP/Co-Founder Pete Christy.
